Tamales Across Cultures: A Mexican–Filipino Cooking Class

This 90-minute tamale class brings together Mexican and Filipino culinary traditions through food, storytelling, and hands-on cooking. Led by the chefs of Angel’s Cocina and Jan Parker Cookery, this class is designed to share culture, honor tradition, and unapologetically take up space together.

The class will begin with a live chef demonstration, walking participants through the fundamentals of tamale-making: masa preparation, fillings, wrapping techniques, and the cultural meaning behind this beloved dish. After the demo, the remainder of the class will be fully hands-on, with participants creating their own tamales alongside the chefs.

All supplies and ingredients are provided.Each participant will make tamales during class and take them home to cook and enjoy with family or friends.
